Where it usually starts

Before any parts are ordered or replaced, the existing system is mapped out: which module sits where, how it's connected, which sensors are active and where the original wiring has been altered. Often the installation itself already reveals where the problem lies.

That leads to honest advice: repair where that makes sense, adjust where that's enough, or replace when an outdated module keeps putting a strain on the rest of the vehicle.

In a modern car, an alarm is a matter of the right interface. In a classic car or youngtimer that interface usually doesn't exist. There's no CAN bus to read, the wiring is decades old, and several hands have already worked on the car.

That's when it comes down to understanding how the vehicle is built: which circuits are switched, where voltage drops out, what modifications were made in the past, and which interventions need to stay reversible.
